This module discusses the pros and cons of medication for addiction treatment modalities, objective monitoring, and diversion control for medication for addiction treatment, and also reviews a case study.

At the end of this module, participants will be able to:
- Identify three types of medication for addiction treatment for the treatment of Opioid Use Disorders (OUDs).
- Identify pros and cons of each modality.
- Design treatment plans with objective monitoring of sobriety for each modality.

Presenter:
Dr. Arthur Williams, MD, MBE, graduated from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania where he also earned a Master in Bioethics from the Center for Bioethics. He completed his residency at NYU-Bellevue and is a board-certified psychiatrist, He is currently a NIDA funded clinical and research fellow at Columbia University int eh Diversion on Substance Abuse, Department of Psychiatry. His research addressing addiction and mental illness, policy, and the law has been published widely.

Developed with funding from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and in collaboration with American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP), this curriculum educates treatment court professionals on medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders with a primary focus on opioid use disorders.
